Rogers' Statement on INF Treaty
Washington, DC,
December 4, 2018
Congressman Mike Rogers (R-AL), Chairman of the House Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee made the following statement today after Secretary of State Mike Pompeo made the announcement that Russia is formally in material breach of Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty.
Chairman Rogers said: “Russia has been in clear violation of the Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces Treaty for years now. I applaud President Trump’s action today and his way ahead to address the threats posed by Russia’s violations in a direct manner with clear deadlines for compliance and consequences for Russian failure to comply. A treaty that is only adhered to by the United States inhibits our ability to defend ourselves and our allies and we should not continue to be bound it.”
