Opelika High Student Wins Congressional Art Contest

Artistic high school students from the Third District were honored last weekend in Sylacauga, as Congressman Mike Rogers announced the winners of the 2017 Third District Congressional Art Competition. Alex Howard, a junior at Opelika High School, took First Place for her artwork in pencil titled “MOM.” Howard came in first place this year out of over 28 contestants. Howard’s artwork will be displayed for one year in the walkway leading to the U.S. Capitol. All artwork submitted for the contest was on view at the Comer Museum in Sylacauga. - ### - |
