Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Mike Rogers (R-AL-03) released the following statement on House Democrats voting to raise taxes on Americans during a recession.

“In the midst of a recession and record high inflation caused by President Biden’s reckless spending the last thing Congress should do is raise taxes on Americans. Yet, Speaker Pelosi brought the so-called ‘Inflation Reduction Act’ to the floor to do just that. I am against raising Americans’ taxes, hiring 87,000 IRS agents to harass Americans, and expensive Green New Deal policies that will hurt American energy. I am also against a socialist scheme that would kill innovation for live-saving drugs and an insane extension of an Obamacare expansion that will cost taxpayers $248 billion. I will always stand up against the Democrats’ socialist schemes that aim to steal more money from my constituents’ wallets.”
