Rogers’ Statement on North Korea Hydrogen Bomb Test
(WASHINGTON, D.C.) –Congressman Mike Rogers, Chairman of the House Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee, made the following statement today after learning from news reports that North Korea said it had conducted a successful hydrogen bomb test.
“We are watching seven years of President Obama’s failures play out – this is what ‘leading from behind’ has wrought. While the President has wasted his two terms in office, North Korea has continued to develop its ballistic missile and nuclear weapons capabilities.
“Now is the time for the president to ask South Korea’s President Park to accept the deployment of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system. The United States must also dramatically enhance trilateral missile defense and intelligence sharing – I urge the president to promptly send the Director of National Intelligence and the Secretary of Defense to Japan and South Korea to accomplish this,” Chairman Rogers said.
